Masahiro Aizawa is originally from Miyagi Prefecture.
He joined the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra in 1989 while while still a student at Tokyo College of Music.
In 1991, he won 3rd prize in the Solo Division of the 5th Japan Flute Convention Competition.
In 1995, Aizawa was appointed Principal Flutist of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.
In April 2025, he was appointed as a professor at his alma mater, Tokyo College of Music. 
As a result of this appointment, he became Guest Principal Flutist with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, where he had performed for 36 years.
He currently serves as a board member of both the Japan Flutists Association and the Asia Flutists Federation.
